READER COMMENTS: Glenn Family of Franklin County, GA Melinda, I have enjoyed your website about Franklin Co. Ga. Can I add another family to your list of names? My ggg grandfather, William Glenn married Rosanna Aaron there in 1808. They had six children, Samuel, born in 1810, {my gg grandfather}, Catherine, Elizabeth, Andrew, Arminda, and William Glenn. Elizabeth Glenn married Hiram Vaughters, and their child, Eliza married William Ishom Vandiver. Thanks, I received your book on CD with yesterdays mail. Thank you very much! The Bookmark is a good way to navigate around the book, and I was able to find a couple of relatives obituary in a few minutes! Again, thanks! Hi Melinda, Thanks so much for your work. People like you make such a difference for others researching. You’re like bright spots in a long dark tunnel sometimes! Best wishes, Dulcie Hi
Melinda, Hello Melinda, I apologize that I did not let you know sooner. I received the book and the extra obits. They were extremely helpful. The Vassie Thomas obit was more than I could have hoped for with more information that I did not have and even corrected wrong information that was given to me. Thank you again for your hard work. If you get together another book let me know. Teresa Hello Melinda. I just wanted you to know how much I've enjoyed your Franklin County book. It's very interesting to read the details of life and connect them to the names in the grave yards. I have a new perspective on my grandmother's mother and the hardships of the time she lived in. Thank you for the hard work you've done to make it possible
for us to know these things. . . Melinda, Can't tell you how delighted I was to receive your package! Your book is wonderful and I found many gems, including the obit (1910) of "Grandpa Mose" Cheek. I was especially thrilled to get actual copies of the obits you had included. I thought the obit of William Franklin Bowers, 1930, was a descendant of my great-great grandfather. It was, in fact an article on his death in 1905. I recognized the picture. I have that tintype, taken about 40 years before his death. How interesting, a portrait was made from it. Wonder who has it! Several other fascinating articles and mysteries solved! I will treasure them. Sincerely, Hi Melinda, I got your book and extra obits today! Thanks a lot. I expect to find some items of interest, even if I am unable to find a relative listed. Who knows, I may get lucky and find a lead or relative. At any rate I appreciate your work and will enjoy reading the book. Please let me know if you publish anything else for I would be interested. Best regards, Walter. Melinda: Thanks again for your help. My grandmother, Virginia Lenhardt DeVore, who is 83, was thrilled to read the obituary of her grandfather. She vividly remembers the drive from Ohio to attend the funeral in Toccoa. She was very close to him. Genealogy is a neat hobby. I only wish I had more time to devote to it. Finding pieces of information like you provide is like placing pieces of a puzzle. It is apparent that you get a lot of joy in helping people find those pieces. Sincerely, Michael Durham Hi Melinda, I was out of town for two weeks and just got back last night. The book and the obituaries arrived while I was away, so I just wanted to let you know that I received them. The extra obituaries are indeed all relatives, and very helpful. I really appreciate them. I have begun to go through the book, and it is great! You did excellent work with it! I also went to your web site and found the letters from Erwin Owens (who was my grandmother’s 2nd cousin). Thanks so much for the note you enclosed telling me about them! How sad though, especially that last letter to his young wife that she received only after he was killed! I also enjoyed reading many other items at your site and will return! It is really wonderful! Well, I just wanted to let you know that I did receive the package. Thanks so much for everything! LouDean Hey Melinda, Love the book! Thank you very much. . . . the Underwoods listed in your book are my ancestors. This was a huge help. I am writing to ask if you sell other GA county obit books. I have traced a great deal of my family back to GA… on all sides. I have many roots in Stewart County and Randolph County, Appling County, etc. Plmk and thank you again. Jeannie Mason :o) Melinda: Re’d obit book today and already have identified the name of my paternal great grandfather, which I’ve tried to do for years. That alone makes it worth the purchase. Thanks. If you have additional obit info, either before 1878 or after 1910, I’d be interested in purchasing more info. Helen Hubbard I have to let you know I received the obituary book today. I am very well pleased! On page 150 and 151 I found my third great Grand Mother, Nancy Gober Phillips. This is the first time I have seen these write ups about her. On page 164 is the obit of my third great uncle William Asbury Royston. Page 194--The story on this page mentions my great grand father William Franklin Royston. All of the Crow surname persons are related in one way or the other. Thank you again for taking the time and putting forth the effort to do this book. Gloria
